The Management, Officials and Staff of PHPA-I observed the 13th Foundation Day of the Project at Bjimthangkha on 11th November, 2020 coinciding with the 65th Royal Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. The day was marked with hoisting of National Flag and singing of National Anthem with the Managing Director as the guest of honor. Given the prevailing COVID situation and to culminate to the Foundation Day, various games were coordinated during the previous weeks among various Circles and Divisions of the Project whereby the final games were scheduled for playing on the Foundation Day. Limited games such as traditional Archery, Khuru, Badminton and Volleyball were coordinated. These games were conducted in lieu of usual Marathon event of the previous years and stringent measures were enforced in compliance with the COVID-19 protocols of the RGoB. More than three hundred employees participated in all the four events with great zeal and enthusiasm that led to enhancement of cooperation, team building and camaraderie among the participants and the employees.

The final matches were played in the early morning to end by the mid-day after which the players and employees gathered in the Multi-Purpose Hall of Bjimthangkha Primary School for the prize distribution ceremony. The function started with a speech by the Managing Director who provided an update on the progress of the Project and encouraged the employees to continue with their good team work and best efforts for expeditious completion of the Project works by one and all in realizing the objective of the two Governments.

Following the speech, the gathering offered heartfelt wishes and prayers for His Majesty’s continued good health, happiness and long life. A cake was also offered and distributed to the gathering consisting of employees, their families and well-wishers. The Managing Director and other guests presented certificates and trophies to the winners and runners-up.

The day was concluded with a vote of thanks by the event coordinator, Mr. Wangchuk Hexzo, Chief Security & Fire Officer which was followed by Tashi Labey dance by all those present. A simple lunch was also served to those present.
